Recent Makeup - Quick Reviews

Wow long time no see! But in all seriousness, it's been a while since I've written anything on this blog and that's for various reasons. The past 6 months have been super busy for me with taking on new responsibilities, as well as one of the toughest school years in recent memories. (I'm a teacher for anyone new, and this year has been quite a challenge. Also, for context I teach elementary Spanish, and this is my fourth-year teaching.) But I'm glad to be back and I'm excited to share some of my thoughts on my recent makeup purchases.  I'm trying to curb my makeup purchases this year and not buy too much or overspend. My makeup collection already is quite large, and I enjoy my large makeup collection, but I don't want to spend too much on makeup this year or purchase things I don't need. With that in mind, I've been very selective about my makeup purchases so far this year and have only been purchasing items I think will add something to my colle...

The Push by Ashley Audrian - Book Review | Worth the read?

The Push by Ashley Audrian is a story about and mother and her daughter. It is a story about nature vs nurture. It is a story about one little bad seed! In this story we are following a mother, who try as she might cannot connect with her daughter, who might be a monster, or is it all in the mother's head? Check out my review on goodread - Click here or read it below! This book surprised me! At first I could not get into the writing style or the constant back and forth in time jumps, but I told myself to just push on and try a few more chapters. I'm very glad I did. My rating would be a 4.5 or A-/B+ but I went ahead and put 5 stars because this book surprised me with how much I like it. I mean, I even finished it in one day! So let's get into the positives and negatives... Let's get into the positives: -I find that it gives us a look into some of the thoughts of motherhood. (Which I personally have not experienced myself, but as a woman, and someone who does want chil...

Review of Colourpop x Malibu Barbie Palette

Hey guys! Woo! It's been a minute. Teaching during a pandemic really takes up all your free time and I've neglected my time here. But, it's summer and its time to get back to reviewing, writing, and sharing. Thanks so much for reading the post, and today we are talking about the new Barbie Malibu eyeshadow palette that released with the very popular fast-makeup brand Colourpop. Are you interested in this palette and wondering about the quality? Then just keep on reading! 1. Packaging and Presentation This palette is absolutely beautiful. Let's just admit that now. The packaging is pink with pops of blue, yellow, and orange. It definitely represents that true Malibu feel. The artwork on the palette is amazing as usual when it comes to Colourpop. If you are a Barbie fan, I think you will be satisfied with the overall design of the palette. The palette itself is cardboard packaging, which in my opinion, is the best type of packaging from Colourpop, and I prefer it over th...

Book! - Let's talk about books and reading 2021

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since my last blog post.... But here I am again!  So today I'm going to be listing off some good and not so good books I've been reading so far into 2021. If you're interested, just keep on reading  Some books I've read so far this year worth missing: Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire    *** - 3 stars out of 5 The most recent book I have finished, this book explores what happens to those students who find doorways to other worlds, and what really happens when they come back to the "real" world. A very interesting concept, I enjoyed most of the characters and the writing, but felt the story to be a bit incomplete, but still think it's worth checking out, which is why it gets a 3 out of 5 rating.  The Maze Runner series - The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trails, and The Death Cure by James Dashner **** 4 stars out of 5 I'm glad I read this series this year. I finished all three books in February and I really enjoyed t...

Teaching During A World-Wide Pandemic

Hello! So today I just wanted to come on here and write about how teaching is going so far, as I've been back to work for a few weeks now and teaching digitally, as well as in-person. Firstly, let me give some background. At my particular school and in my particular county we were expected to be all digital this year, but that quickly changed when it was announced that students could have the option to come back into the school. Of course, this arose to many different feels, opinions, fears, and worries from teachers and parents alike. In the end, at my school, our students have the option to learn digitally or to come in-person and we have about a 50/50 split as of right now.  My position is also uniquely different at the elementary level since I teach Spanish and it's a connection class. So, I teach every student in the school. I a group of classes grades K-5 for 45 minutes for a week, and them they rotate and I see the next group. As you can imagine, that's even scarier ...

Review of Colourpop Garden Variety Palette

Many makeup brands have been going crazy with so many new makeup release and today I'm giving my quick opinion on the newish Colourpop Garden Variety palette. Since this palette released a few weeks ago, Colourpop has already released two other collections, so I'm a little behind, but I wanted to share my opinion on the Garden Variety palette since I actually bought this palette myself and wanted to review it. So let's get into my opinion and quick review: First some.... Basic Information: Price - $20 Pans - 15 eyeshadows Formulas - mattes, metallics, and Colourpop's super shock formula Net Weight - 17g (.6 oz) Shades: neutrals, oranges, corals, golds, purples, greens, and browns My Opinion: Quality - The quality is the usual quality for Colourpop. Colourpop is one of my favorite brands and has a very good formula. On top of being affordable, they also have a very good formula. This palette is no exception, it has a good formula and I had no issues blending the shadows....

Let's talk new makeup - Are these new makeup releases worth buying?

Hey guys! So there is some new makeup releases coming out and being released and I have to say I'm excited to check out some of these products. If you'd like to hear my opinion on these new releases, well just keep on reading! Let's jump right in! 1. This collection that just came out from Looxi beauty looks amazing. The brand is a smaller indie brand that just came out with their Butterfly kisses collection. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to pick up anything but I was super interested in this release. I've definitely have been interested in Indie brands and single duochrome and multichrome shades. This collection had 10 different beautiful shades and they are all sold out. I hope they restock soon.  Check out the site here -->   https://www.looxibeauty.com/collections/butterfly-kisses 2.  This new palette looks amazing from Coloured Raine. I love the vibrant, colorful shades. I also love that they are giving two options for the palette. Super cute! 3. This new col...

New Elf Retro Paradise Palette

https://youtu.be/u_jJ8pMhE88 Hi guys coming on here today to talk about the new elf retro paradise eyeshadow palette that just came out recently. I did a review for this pallet on my YouTube channel (@Erin Hudson), and I did enjoy it but I think that the formula leaves a little bit to be desired. Well I did get a nice look I felt that the eyeshadows could be a bit more pigmented and easier to blend together but overall for $15 this palette is not bad. Again this pallet is $14.99 and is available at target as well as on the elf website.  Did you pick up this palette and if yes, what do you think? Leave your comments below! Check out the look I created on my YouTube channel by click the link or video at the top.  Thanks

Defending Jacob | New 2020 Apple TV show - My thoughts and Grade rating

The 2020 show is directed by Morten Tyldan and tells the tale of a crime that shocks a small community when a young 14-year-old boy is found brutally murdered in the woods. The district attorney, played by Chris Evans, is on the case but unexpectedly is found torn between his job to bring justice and his son who gets accused of the murder.  Basic Info:  2020 Crime Drama 1 Season - 8 episodes 72% Rotten Tomato Score My thoughts: The Good - Defending Jacob is a very interesting story that will definitely keep you enticed and entertained throughout. The show does a good job of tell the story of a family going through the biggest challenge and different trials, as they work hard to prove their son, Jacob, did not commit this heinous crime of killing his classmate. The show had ma...

Hi guys how’s it going I hope everyone is doing great today I’m coming on here to write about a horror movie tag that I came up with recently basically this is going to be different questions and categories and I’m going to find different horror movies to put into those categories. I also recorded a video on YouTube with this challenge that I will link later but I just wanted to get this up on the blog to share. Cream Blushes - recommendations and thoughts!

Hello Guys! How are you doing! Today I want to talk about some cream blushes. I love cream blush, it has become one of my favorite beauty products to use, along with eyeshadow and lipsticks! In this post I'm going to talk about how I apply cream blush, the benefits of using cream blush, and lastly I will recommend some great cream blush.  You can also check out my ranking of all my cream blushes on my youtube channel which I will link here and at the end of this post.  https://youtu.be/WbmklZE0rhU 1. How I apply cream blush I will usually apply cream blush using my fingers, a stippling brush, or with a beauty sponge. I apply my cream blush in the same area I would apply powder blush, so I recommend you apply the blush as you usually would. You should remember that blush is a way to sculpt the face how you want. If you want your face to appear more round for example, apply to the apples of the cheeks. If you want to have a more chiseled look apply near and a little above where ...

Black Lives Matter!

Hey all! I just wanted to come on here and talk about a very important issue. The past few weeks has seen many people fighting against police brutality and in support of making sure all black lives matter and to see justice being served in the United States. Racism and hatred is never correct and is in itself evil. As a black woman in the United States, I will support the black lives matter movement and I will support all movements for equality for black people! You can also help and support! You can support by donating, signing petitions, or just by educating yourself on matters that are important for black people. We should all learn to love each other and be united. Don't let the enemy plant seeds of hatred in your hearts for any person whether they be black, white, hispanic, asian, etc. Be open to hearing others stories and listen to their feelings. No ones feelings are invalid. Taking the time to just stop and listen is also a way to show support and hopefully as a peopl...

Luxury Makeup - How to start your collection of Luxury Makeup

Hey all! Today I wanted to come on here and list a few tips for those who want to start building a collection  of luxury makeup. First, what is luxury makeup? Luxury makeup might be different to different people, but overall, luxury makeup is makeup that is marketed and has the feel of luxury. Luxury makeup might be connected to a luxury brand, for example, Tom Ford or Marc Jacobs, which are luxury clothing brands that also have beauty lines. Still, not all luxury makeup brands are connected to luxury clothing lines. Take for example brands like Pat Mcgrath Labs and Natasha Denona. These two brands were started by world renowned makeup artist who have long standing reputations within the makeup industry. Their brands are luxury because of the marketing, price range, and because they are connected to their names. So now that we have a basis, a loose definition of what a luxury brand is, let's talk about how to start a luxury makeup collections. These are just my tips, my opinion...

Digital Learning: Teachers Working From Home.

Hey all! So , as a teacher, the epidemic of covid-19/Corona virus is challenging teachers all over the world to get creative with teaching and learning. As a Spanish teacher, I wanted to quickly come on here to give some suggestions for teachers who are having a hard time with digital learning or need some quick tips. Below, I wrote 3 suggestions for teachers during this time. So let's quickly leap into some suggestions and tips to help with teaching and learning. We want out students to continue learning productively! 1. Try making sure assignments are not too long.  To often teachers aren't thinking about the situations of students in their home life. At school, we can give longer assignments, but at home we need to be aware that students may only have one device to do online assignments, while also having siblings or parents that also need to use that device. Or it might be that students only have a tablet or phone to use. So be aware that giving assignments...

Ways Teachers Can Handle Stress!

As a teacher that is in my second (and a half) year of teaching, I can attest to the very true fact that teaching is not only difficult, it is also very stressful. Many may not understand, or may think that teachers just complain, but the truth is that teachers work really hard, long hours, and they often neglect their own health or families to make sure students have everything they need. Now this isn't going to be every teacher but most teachers I've met and worked with so far are very dedicated and work to give their students the best. So... That being said, how can teachers relieve some of the stress that comes with the pressure to provide the best for students. Here are some tips that hopefully can help someone, including myself. I need to take my own advice, because this being only my second (and a half) year of teaching, I already feel worn out and I had a health scare not to long ago. Teachers everywhere, please remember to take some time for yourself and relieve so...
